I get asked all the time.....where do you find the time? Truthfully I am still trying to figure out what works.  Balancing a full time job and The Honey Bagger is no easy task.  At one point I was getting up at 5:00am to sew for an hour before I had to start getting ready for my day job.  5:00am = yuck and lots of coffee!!!!  I actually did that for quite awhile, one reason it did work is that it was "my time"....the only thing I had to give up to sew is some sleep.  I have tried saying I would sew from 8:00pm - 9:00pm every night...but like anything the excuses sometimes seem easier than actually doing what you committed to!

Some weeks I procrastinate and don't sew at all, other times I sit at work thinking of all the things I would sew, if only I was at home.  Then as soon as I have the house to myself the last thing I want to do is sew.  Obviously I cause my own problems 😜  It is a constant adjustment to find the right mix for now.  My newest arrangement is that I sew from 9:00am-11:00am on Saturday and Sunday.  That leaves my weeknights free and truthfully I feel most creative in the morning.

One thing I have learned in this juggling act is that you have to be kind to yourself.  Everyone is busy and has so many different demands on their time.  I am lucky, my son is (almost) 18 years old so he is pretty self sufficient.  Gone are the days of soccer games, playing lego and beavers/cubs and scouts! Looking back I sometimes wonder how I had the time for all the things we did!

Now that sewing on the weekends in the morning seems to be working I am going to try and add more balance into my life by working out in the mornings before work.  I have signed up for 8 races this year from 5km to my first half marathon so I have a lot of work to do.  Hopefully this gets me closer to my goal weight!

Work - life balance is key! Not the balance that works for your friends, your sister or even the "you" of last year.  Look for the balance you need now...taking into account all the demands on your time.  It's a constant juggling act.

Happy sewing!
